PULSE Supervision
Why Pulse
We’ve named it PULSE Supervision because, like a heartbeat, supervision practice has a rhythm- steady, yet responsive to what is happening within and around us. We believe supervision is not fixed; it emerges from who we are, shaped by our values, knowledge, and ways of working in relationship with others.
Our 6-day training is an invitation to explore supervision in this way: as a dynamic practice rather than a rigid method. It offers space to reflect on what you already know, reconnect with what matters most to you, and open yourself to new perspectives and possibilities.
What the learning looks like
This offering includes at least 36 hours of live, online, experiential learning. Learning happens through participation, reflection, and conversation rather than instruction.
You can expect a mix of:
Individual and group supervision experiences, including the use of reflecting teams
Supervision in triads, drawing on outsider-witness practices
Learning shaped by listening to and learning from multiple perspectives
All learning is underpinned by the PULSE supervision principles:
Partnership
Unique practice
Learning through reflexivity
Story and multiple perspectives
Ethical practice
Endorsement
PULSE supervision has received Level 1 endorsement approval from the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses for 36 CPE points.
Endorsement applications have been submitted to Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
Who should come
Anyone in the helping professions- counsellors, nurses and midwives, mental health nurses, social workers, psychologists, and pastoral care workers. Anyone keen to learn or grow their supervision practice. If you are curious about your unique approach, open to different perspectives, and value reflective practice, you're in the right place.
Overview
Discover supervision as a dynamic, collaborative process guided by curiosity. Through reflection, conversation, and hands-on learning, you’ll clarify the values that guide your work and develop a clear sense of how you want to practice supervision, with practical ideas you can use.
Outcomes
When you finish this discovery experience, we hope you will have:
1. Clarity about the values that guide your supervision practice
A clearer sense of what matters most to you in your work and how those values shape the way you practise supervision, helping you reconnect with why you came into this work and energising your practice.
2. A strong foundation for ongoing supervision practice
A solid base from which to develop your work, whether you’re new or experienced, clarifying what to carry forward, what to let go of, and what to explore further.
3. Confidence in running supervision sessions
Practical skills, including session structures, ethical considerations, and processes, that help you feel confident supporting others effectively.
4. Experience experimenting with different approaches
Opportunities to try out narrative, solution-focused, and relational practices, supporting you to develop your unique way of practising supervision.
5. Appreciation of your unique supervision approach
Recognition and confidence in your own distinctive way of practising supervision, helping you feel confident in the value and integrity of your approach.
A final word from Alice (of Wonderland fame)
In the spirit of Alice’s reflections, she might say: “I leave this journey more curious about my professional practice story and the choices that have shaped it, clearer about the values that guide my work, and confident in articulating my unique way of practising supervision”
We look forward to hearing from you
